Temporary Registers

Temporary registers are used to hold intermediate results of computations within a basic block. Each temporary register must be defined in exactly one place and used in exactly one place. It is illegal to assign a value to a temporary register that is never used, and you may not use the value in a temporary register more than once. The Simple-SUIF library checks to make sure that these conventions are followed.
